Annika Steinmetz

With a background in Psychology and specialization in Legal Psychology, I combine expertise in criminology, clinical, and forensic assessment. Through work at universities in Frankfurt, Oldenburg, and Mannheim, I gained experience in forensic evaluations, geriatric psychiatry, neuropsychological assessment, and research coordination, bridging psychology, law, and mental health research.

My doctoral project, “Decision Support Tool for Resilient Communities using the Social Dimension,” explores the social aspects of resilience. It identifies key psychosocial factors, risk perception, social capital, preparedness, and crisis communication, and develops tools to monitor them. Using real-time data and case studies from Utrecht and Arrábida, it enhances community resilience assessment.

I was drawn to the FOURIER programme for its applied, international approach to resilience research. I aim to analyse psychosocial factors and develop real-time data methods. Excited by its mobility, training, and collaboration opportunities, I’m motivated to connect science, policy, and practice to strengthen community resilience across Europe.
