Candidate ID: DC13
Topic: Automated hierarchical hidden Markov modelling for power networks components
Beneficiary: FRAUNHOFER

My name is Adarsh and I am from India. I recently completed my Master’s degree at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where my thesis focused on modeling thermal management systems for space applications in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, India. Through this work, I developed a strong background in numerical modeling, computational fluid dynamics, and unsteady thermo-fluid problems, supported by experimental validation. The results of this research are currently under review for publication in Thermal Science and Engineering Progress.

Within the FOURIER project, my research focuses on energy system state modeling using Markov models and related statistical methods. The aim is to develop a scalable and automated framework for modeling complex energy systems, such as smart meter networks, and predicting their future states. This approach supports early detection of system degradation and potential failures, contributing to improved reliability and proactive maintenance.

I was motivated to apply to FOURIER because of its strong international research environment and close collaboration with industry. Building on my background in physics-based energy system modeling, the project allows me to extend my work toward data-driven health monitoring and prediction using real operational data, aligning well with my research interests and long-term goals.
